Grupo Habita was born in Mexico City nearly three decades ago. We don't have a formula but we do have an approach: let each destination shape us and try to do the same in return.
Who we are
Every hotel is built from scratch, shaped by its surroundings and the artists, architects and designers who live there. We wake up in the morning to create experiences that aren’t just beautiful, but deeply human. To do that, we’re proudly anti-franchise, meaning we’ll never try the same concept twice. Ever.
From the ground up
Before they were hoteliers, Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha were citrus farmers and investment bankers. Things changed. Their earliest properties helped establish Mexico City as a destination long before the well-heeled crowds arrived from abroad. They saw a story with international resonance where not many did.
Built to belong
We work with local architects who understand in their bones what a place means—and what it can be. Each building is created from local materials wherever possible, respecting local vernacular and its traditions. We don’t have a signature style, only that it be easy on the eye and good for the soul.
Rooted in place
We collaborate with local communities to bring them into each space—be it through showcasing local craft, hiring craftspeople or investing in their careers. We use natural materials wherever possible, reducing emissions related to transport. Several of our properties have LEED certifications and are entirely off-grid.
